Maharashtrian dal fry

This recipe I learnt from my Roopa pachi,  watching whom I got inspired into cooking.  She used to prepare so many varieties of chats.  It was a real experience to watch her cooking.  I  used to run around her asking so many doubts about her recipes and she very patiently used to describe everything to me.  I am really thankful to her and because of her I started experimenting new recipes.

Toor dal                                   ½ cup
Masoor dal                             ½ cup
Turmeric powder                  ¼ tsp
Red chillies                             7 to 8
Garlic                                       6 to 7 flakes
Hing                                         pinch
Coriander leaves                    1tbsp chopped
Kokam                                    1or 2
Methi seeds                          ¼ tsp
Salt  to taste.
Method
Wash and soak masoor dal for 10-15 minutes.  Then pressure cook haldi powder and methi seeds.
Peel and crush garlic and keep aside.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in kadai,  add red chillies, fry for 2-3 minutes and keep aside.  In same kadai, add pinch of hing and crushed garlic fry till golden brown.  Then add cooked dal in it.  Put salt, coriander leaves and kokam, bring it to boil for 5-10 minutes.  Lastly crush and spread the fried red chilly on top of it and boil for one minute and ready to serve with chappathi or rice.
